On Saturday in Ozalj, Croatia’s Most Rural Woman of 2019 was selected

In the packed hall of the Elementary School Slava Raškaj in Ozalj, on Saturday 12.10.2019. The jubilee election for the 20th Most Outstanding Croatian Country Woman was held. In a competition of 20 candidates from 15 counties, the jury awarded the flattering title to Svetlana Bastalic (35) from Dinjevci near Pitomaca. This year’s winner is a mother of five and is engaged in livestock, husbandry and pig farming on the family farm. The title of the most exemplary Croatian rural woman was handed to her by Agriculture Minister Marija Vuckovic. Ruza Tomasic, a MEP in the European Parliament, will host the most outspoken Croatian rural woman and her family in Brussels.
The title of the first date was taken by Snježana Dianežević from Zagreb County, and the title of the second date by Marijana Podrug from Šibenik-Knin County. For the first time, the organizers also awarded two special awards for humanitarian work and selfless giving to Jakica Cetinic from Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Violeta Capo from Virovitica-Podravina County.
We would like to remind you that the project of the most exemplary Croatian rural woman was initiated by Zagreb County 20 years ago. This project, organized by the Model Croatian Rural Women Association, seeks to promote traditional values ​​with the aim of affirming and raising the quality of life in the Croatian countryside. Last year’s winner was Melita Vrbanek from Vivodina.
