You know, in 2015, we made the 1,479.32-meter-long Jashkov Strudel and entered it as the longest in the Guinness Book of World Records. Due to this and the now traditional manifestation of StrudelFest, the whole region became famous for its homemade strudel.

A month ago, the record for the longest strudel was broken by a team from Sisak with a slope of 1,762.45 meters.

“Guinness is coming home,” Lidija Žganjer – Grzetic, the head of Strudlafest, told reporters from the Old Town of Ozalj on February 27, 2020. Breaking the existing record and setting a new world record is planned for September 5, 2020 during the StrudlaFest event, which will take place on September 5 and September 6 this year.

The breaking of the record was announced on the beautiful terrace of the castle of the Old Town of Ozalj, which offers a view of the Kupa and Munjara rivers. Lidija Žganjer Gržetić, who is the initiator and manager of this project, comes from the well-known Žganjer catering family, whose often strudel, lamb and now Katarina Zrinski cake diverts from the Zagreb – Karlovac highway.

The announcement was attended by about 20 tourism journalists who, at the invitation of Ozalj Mayor Gordana Lipsinic, were briefed for two days on the tourism potentials of the municipalities of Lasinja, Draganic, Kamanje, Zakanje, Ribnik and Ozalj. These six municipalities are soon integrating the offer into one tourist community – the Kupa Tourist Board.
